Alternative Spring Break: Ready To Work

The team heads up 1,000 in elevation to reach the project site at almost 4,700 feet above sea level. The highest point in the refuge is 9,000 feet at the top of Hayford Peak. Great Basin Institute's own Matt Flores is acting as guide, pointing out former roads and teaching the team about desert pavement. Desert pavement impedes erosion by forming a mosaic of wind scoured rocks.
